Cumbersome forms and checklists, burdensome data systems, high caseloads, restrictive policies... I get it. It's often really tough to practice authentically in outcome-based government funded employment services programs.

I'm Sarah Delicate, and along with Angela Hoyt, I am the co-author of the book Smoke & Mirrors, The Illusion of the Employment Services Sector. I believe that authentic, client-centered, client-driven services ARE POSSIBLE within the structures and policies of your current employment program.

My new 3-part live webinar series explores a few practical, evidence-based tools that are proven to help drive outcomes and build alliance. This learning series has been designed for skill acquisition and implementation, meaning the skills will be practiced within the sessions and between the sessions, with the opportunity for reflection and dialogue.

Simple And Effective Counselling Techniques

Three Part Webinar Series — March 28th, April 18th, and May 9th, from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm EST

  • Module 1

We'll explore the four common factors identified by Lambert and Assay that contribute to effective outcomes. These factors include the relationship between the client and practitioner, the client's expectations and goals, the practitioner's ability to use evidence-based techniques, and client factors.

We'll also introduce you to the stages of change and the readiness ruler, powerful tools for assessing and building your client's motivation and readiness to change.

  • Module 2

We'll explore the use of a wheel to conduct an effective needs assessment while maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance (regardless of the needs assessment methodology currently mandated by your funder!).

By maintaining a curious, client-directed approach, you will better understand your client's unique needs and priorities, making it easier to co-construct an effective action plan.

  • Module 3

    We'll discuss how to co-construct client-directed, client-centered action plans.

By working collaboratively with your clients to develop action plans that are tailored to their unique needs and goals, you help them take an active role and increase their chances of success.

A well-structured action plan is the foundation of your relationship with your client and is critical for maintaining long-term relationships and retention in services.
